Travel and accommodation

Getting here

Brisbane is serviced by a major international airport, with regular flights to and from more than 70 destinations in Australia and around the world.  Qantas is Australia’s national carrier, and has daily domestic and international flights to Brisbane, in conjunction with partner Emirates.  Virgin Australia, Jetstar and Tigerair can also connect you with Brisbane from various domestic and international destinations.  Your local travel agent can help you plan your journey, or consult airline websites (Qantas, Virgin Australia) or third party websites (e.g. Skyscanner, Expedia, Webjet for a summary of domestic fares on all airlines.

Located approximately 15km from Brisbane CBD, Brisbane Airport is serviced by the Airtrain, which will get you into the heart of the city in 23 minutes.  There is a taxi rank located in front of the domestic terminal, and at the northern end of the Arrivals terminal (level 2) at the international terminal.

There are a number of accommodation options in and around the Brisbane CBD and Southbank. The University of Queensland is an easy 25 minute CityCat ride along the river, or a short bus trip across the Eleanor Schonell Bridge or along Coronation Drive.

Accommodation is also available closer to The University of Queensland, around St Lucia and Toowong, which are connected to UQ via multiple bus services.

See Visit Brisbane for different accommodation options in the Brisbane region.
